The split screens are meant to replicate a comic book style. It had been the first time I truly thought more on color grading and the effects that transitions have on the final product.
Directing
I communicated with the advanced dance teacher on how far each lead had to travel, the emotion of each scene, and to coordinate filming days since they had multiple competitions that season. Often times, we had an hour to film entire scenes. The middle section was filmed in 15 minutes during lunchtime for example. Overall, the project required quick decision making that would align with the original artistic vision as well as proper time management.
Production Design
We turned a studio room in the multimedia classroom into two bedrooms by making each side of the wall a separate desk area. This was done in one class period (1 and a half hours) and had to be dismantled before the next class. We did this three times in total.
